Innovations to ensure plant operators are working in a safer environment;
i-am card
the i-am card is a card device which links a user to the piece of equipment being used. Its main purpose is to ensure that only trained and competent operatives use the potentially dangerous equipment which at times is quite complex and difficult to monitor.

What does it do:
- Smart immobiliser that verifies operator training before allowing access
- Verifies operator training every turn of the key
- Prevents unauthorised operation
- Records who is operating equipment and when
- Ensures compliance
Occupancy Sensor
The occupancy sensor is a built in tool which ensures that operatives remain within the designated cab area of the machinery they are using
The sensor is permanently located in the cab and is mapped to the interior of the particular machine it is installed in. through the mapping and calibration process, the sensor’s controlling software understands where the operator should be. This is far more powerful than a seat sensor as it can detect any deviation from safe practice. Should it detect unsafe practice, with the operator moving outside of the permitted zone, the asset is temporarily disabled.
Miller Mate
Miller Mate is an in‐cab device that encourages the safe and correct operation of a quick coupler during the attachment changeover process and is the latest innovation in quick coupler safety from
Miller, which will be launched at PlantWorx. Miller Mate can replace the existing toggle style switch currently widely used and comprises of easy to operate LED unit.
Miller Mate is an in‐cab device that simplifies the safe and correct operation of a quick coupler during the attachment changeover process. It replaces the existing toggle style switch with a simple and intuitive full‐colour LED interface which can be mounted in the cab of any new or existing plant.
The in‐cab display of Miller Mate shows graphic illustrations of the correct operating procedure as per the manufacturer’s recommendations. It encourages the operator to place the quick coupler in the correct positions throughout the attach and release processes. Miller Mate operates the hydraulic cylinder within the coupler only when the operator has confirmed they are at the correct stage of the process.
Key Features:
- Illustrated step by step guide to attachment changeover process.
- Eliminates accidental release.
- Simple operation and installation.
- System log records prior functions when the operator changes attachments.
- In‐built system check to alert operator of any electrical faults with the system.
- Coupler regular maintenance checks and manufacturer details contained within the unit.
- Full colour and anti‐glare screen.
- Fully sealed, waterproof unit
- Compatible with existing OEM switch systems.
- Replaces existing ‘toggle’ switch
- Provides a constant reminder to the operator to follow the correct operating procedure and not take shortcuts during changeovers. (Particularly important for those operating a mixed fleet of machines fitted with different couplers).
Backeye 360 – Camera Monitor Systems
Backeye®360 provides the driver with a real-time, 360° ‘bird’s-eye’ view of the vehicle within a single image.
Brigade offers a choice of 360° technologies, both of which work with four ultra-wide-angle cameras that each covers one full side of the vehicle with a viewing angle of over 180°. High-mounted on the front, rear and sides, the calibrated cameras capture all of the surrounding area including the blind spots of the vehicle or machine. The four live images are simultaneously sent to an electronic control unit (ECU) where they are instantly processed, combined, blended and stitched. The distortion from the wide-angle camera lens is also corrected before delivering a clear, smooth, real-time image onto the driver’s monitor.
Benefits of the system extend beyond reducing collisions with people and objects. The comprehensive view of the surroundings aids the driver when manoeuvring at low speed and can minimise tyre damage, as drivers of larger vehicles can see and avoid objects lying on the ground.
